GEO Guide

What is the GEOrca Index?

The GEOrca Index is a daily leaderboard of the websites AI answer engines actually cite. Every day it asks Google AI Overview, Gemini, Qwen and Kimi a fixed set of real industry questions - in English and Chinese - records which sources their answers reference, and ranks the most-cited domains in each category. Why an AI citation leaderboard?

Search results have rankings you can see. AI answers don't - when ChatGPT or Gemini answers a buyer's question, the “top result” is whichever brand the model names, and nobody publishes that list. The GEOrca Index makes this visible: it is the closest thing to a rank tracker for the AI answer layer, measured from real engine output rather than guesswork.

How it works
  1. A fixed question set

Each category tracks a versioned set of the questions real buyers ask AI - head terms and long-tail, in English and Chinese.

  2. Daily collection

Every engine answers every question once per day; the answers' cited sources are recorded.

  3. 7-day rolling leaderboard

Citation share = a domain's citations ÷ all citations in the category over 7 days, which smooths single-day noise.

  4. Engine coverage

Each row shows which engines cited the domain - being cited by one is luck; being cited by all of them is authority.

The categories

At launch the Index covers seven categories, and they expand as the tracked question set grows:

Frequently asked questions

How often is the GEOrca Index updated?

Daily. A fixed set of industry questions is asked to every tracked AI engine each day at 00:01 UTC, and the leaderboard reflects a 7-day rolling window of the citations collected.

Which AI engines does the GEOrca Index track?

Google AI Overview, Gemini, Qwen (通义千问) and Kimi at launch — a deliberate mix of English and Chinese AI answer engines. More engines are added as reliable citation data becomes available.

What does citation share mean?

A domain's citation share is its share of all citations inside one category over the last 7 days. If AI engines produced 100 citations answering e-commerce questions and 12 pointed to your domain, your citation share is 12%.

Can I see which questions were asked?

No - the question set is proprietary and versioned. The Index publishes category-level aggregates only: domains, citation counts, share, and engine coverage.

How do I get my site onto the GEOrca Index?

Be the source AI engines cite: publish citable, well-structured, authoritative content in your category, and make sure AI crawlers can fetch it. GEOrca scores your pages for exactly this and tells you what to fix.
